NGT Seeks Action Report on Illegal Construction Near Van Vihar

The National Green Tribunal is looking into building work near Van Vihar National Park.

A petition said that several tall buildings were constructed too close to the park.

The area within 100 metres of the park boundary is treated as an eco-sensitive zone.

This zone is meant to help protect animals and reduce conflicts between people and wildlife.

The petition also said that construction may harm the park’s environment.

The tribunal sent the matter to park and wildlife officials.

Those officials must decide what action is allowed under the law.

They must report what they did within three months.
