Scotch Whisky Set for Five-Year Orbital Aging Experiment

Scotch Whisky Set for Five-Year Orbital Aging Experiment

Scientists from Japan and Scotland are preparing an experiment with Scotch whisky.

They plan to send whisky samples into space in 2028.

The samples will ride on a small satellite called a CubeSat.

The satellite is expected to leave the International Space Station and orbit Earth for five years.

As it travels, it will experience very hot and very cold conditions.

The scientists want to see how those conditions affect the whisky as it ages.

They hope the changes could make the whisky mature faster or taste different.

If it works, making space-aged whisky may still be very costly.
