Cyril Shroff, IIM Ahmedabad Launch Academy for General Counsels
Mr. Cyril Shroff is a very important lawyer in India.
He works for a big law firm called Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas.
He has teamed up with a famous business school called IIM Ahmedabad.
Together, they are starting a special new school called the Cyril Shroff-IIMA GC Leadership Academy.
A general counsel is the top lawyer inside a company.
In the past, general counsels mostly gave legal advice, but now they also help run the company and make big business choices.
The new academy will teach them how to be great leaders, focusing on things like enterprise leadership, finance and technology.
Mr. Shroff and his family are paying for it themselves to help build a strong future for the legal profession.
The academy will mix expert teachers with learning from each other to train the next generation of legal leaders.
Cyril Shroff, managing partner of law firm Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, and IIM Ahmedabad jointly established the Cyril Shroff-IIMA GC Leadership Academy.
The academy was set up through a personal philanthropic commitment by Cyril Shroff and the Shroff family.
A Memorandum of Understanding formalising the academy was signed on Saturday, August 8, 2026, with the launch ceremony held at the IIM Ahmedabad campus.
The academy aims to develop the next generation of general counsels for enterprise-level leadership, focusing on enterprise leadership, finance integration and technological readiness.
IIM Ahmedabad Director Prof Bharat Bhasker said the initiative will help legal counsels lead at the intersection of law, business and governance.
