Uddhav Thackeray: PM Modi finds time for traitors, not youth
In India, there is a political party called Shiv Sena, and it split into two groups.
Some members left the group led by Uddhav Thackeray and joined the group led by Eknath Shinde.
Uddhav Thackeray is very upset about this.
He calls the members who switched sides 'traitors.'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had breakfast with these former members.
Uddhav says the Prime Minister should spend time with young people who are protesting instead.
Young people, called GenZ, have been protesting across the country.
Uddhav says these protests shook the government and that some protesters were hurt by police.
He hopes the Supreme Court will make a fair decision about which group is the real Shiv Sena.
He also wants the government in Jharkhand to talk to students who are angry about exam problems.
Uddhav Thackeray accused PM Modi of finding time for 'traitors' — six Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs who joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena — while ignoring protesting youth.
Thackeray questioned whether Modi's breakfast meeting with the rebel MPs was an attempt to 'scare' the Supreme Court, which is hearing Sena (UBT)'s challenge to the Election Commission's recognition of the Shinde-led Sena as the 'real Shiv Sena.'
The Sena (UBT) petition also challenges Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla's decision recognising the merger of the six MPs into the rival Shiv Sena, and Thackeray said the issue will be raised before the top court.
Thackeray said GenZ protests brought the government 'to its knees' and that some protesters were 'brutally assaulted' during the Sansad Chalo march, calling the situation a 'calm before the storm' and saying the time has come to change the entire government.
He urged the Jharkhand government to hold a dialogue with protesting students; the Hemant Soren government's Saturday talks with job aspirants over alleged paper leaks failed to break the deadlock.
