NASA Rover Finds Potential Biosignature in Martian Rock
NASA's Perseverance rover found interesting stuff in a rock on Mars called Sapphire Canyon!
They found minerals like vivianite and greigite that, on Earth, often point to tiny living things.
These minerals also contained carbon, sulfur, phosphorus, and iron.
Scientists are excited because this could mean there was life on Mars!
However, it doesn't prove it.
The minerals could have formed without life, too.
Scientists will need to study the rocks more to be sure.
If confirmed, it could mean Mars was habitable for longer than we thought!
Perseverance rover found a potential biosignature in a rock sample from Jezero Crater.
The rock, nicknamed Sapphire Canyon, was collected from an ancient riverbed.
The sample contains organic carbon, sulfur, phosphorus, and iron.
Scientists detected vivianite and greigite, minerals linked to life on Earth.
The discovery suggests Mars may have been habitable for longer than previously believed.
