CPI(M) leader booked for allegedly threatening police during protest

A leader of a political group in India, called the CPI(M), has been given a case by the police.

His name is K P Udayabhanu, and the event happened in the state of Kerala.

The police had been looking for a man with a criminal past named Arjun Ayanki.

They searched houses in a town called Mallappally because they thought he might be hiding there.

Udayabhanu and more than 100 other members of his group held a protest because they did not like the searches.

During the protest, Udayabhanu spoke loudly through a loudspeaker.

The police say he said unkind things about them and their families and even warned them, and videos of his speech made police officers scared.

So the police filed a case against him for threatening them.

Udayabhanu says he only asked a question and stands by what he said, so he will accept whatever happens next.

The man the police were looking for, Arjun Ayanki, was caught on the same day the searches happened.
