Bhiwandi Women Protest Delay in Shahapur-Murbad-Khopoli Highway Work
A busy road called the Shahapur-Murbad-Khopoli highway was supposed to be built a long time ago.
It started in 2018, which is almost eight years ago.
But the road is still not finished.
There are big potholes, mud, and dust everywhere.
Many people use this road, like students, workers, farmers, and patients.
The bad road has caused accidents, and some people have sadly died.
A group of women decided to speak up about the problem.
They gave a letter to a local government official.
They asked for the road to be fixed quickly and safely.
If nothing is done, they plan to sit on the road on Mangala Gauri day to protest peacefully.
Work on the Shahapur-Murbad-Patgaon-Khopoli highway remains incomplete nearly eight years after construction began in 2018.
Women from affected areas submitted a memorandum to the Shahapur tehsildar protesting the delay and seeking action from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).
The protestors alleged the poor road condition has contributed to accidents, with several deaths and serious injuries reported.
Demands include immediate pothole filling, a time-bound completion plan, compensation clarity for farmers, and restoration of damaged public facilities.
Women warned they will stage a peaceful protest by sitting on the pothole-ridden highway on Mangala Gauri day if no action is taken.
