Satyendar Jain, Five Others Arrested in Delhi Jal Board Case

The Anti-Corruption Branch arrested six people in a case about Delhi water-treatment plant contracts.

One of them is Satyendar Kumar Jain, a former Delhi water minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader.

The agency says some tender rules may have been written to help one particular company.

It also says middlemen may have been used to move money.

Investigators allege that former Delhi Jal Board CEO Udit Prakash Rai received ₹1.52 crore in bribes through bank accounts.

The wider case has been described as involving alleged irregularities worth about ₹1.943 crore.

The case began after a complaint from the Delhi government’s Directorate of Vigilance.

The Aam Aadmi Party denies the political allegations and says Jain was in jail when the tender was issued.
