MSRTC Accused of Buying Spare Parts at Inflated Rates

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation, which runs over 14,000 buses, is being accused of buying spare parts for its buses at prices that are up to 30% higher than the normal contract rates.

The ST Employees' Congress says this happened because the corporation did not finish its yearly contract process for buying parts, which was delayed for almost a year.

Because of the delay, the workshops had to buy parts locally, and some of those purchases were very expensive.

The union says that the delay caused the corporation to lose many crores of rupees.

They want the government to investigate and hold the officials responsible.

The corporation normally gets parts through a competitive tender, but the tenders from 14 suppliers, worth over ₹55 crore, expired because the process was not finished on time.

The union wants an independent probe into the procurement and strict action against those who caused the delay.
