Assam Orders 15 Declared Foreigners to Leave
In Assam, India, 15 people who were declared foreigners by courts have been told to leave the state within 24 hours.
The government used a law from 1950 to make this order.
These people are currently in detention centers and will be taken to the border with Bangladesh to be deported.
The government says these people are a threat to the public and the state's security.
This is not the first time this law has been used; earlier, five other people were also told to leave.
The government has made new rules to make it easier to remove people they consider to be illegal immigrants.
15 individuals declared foreigners by tribunals in Assam ordered to leave within 24 hours under the 1950 Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act.
Orders issued by Nagaon District Commissioner Devasish Sharma, citing their presence as detrimental to public interest and internal security.
