Rajasthan Urban Polls: BJP Leads, Congress Challenges Delimitation

Rajasthan Urban Polls: BJP Leads, Congress Challenges Delimitation

Rajasthan held elections for many seats in its city and town governments.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, or BJP, won more wards than the Indian National Congress, or Congress.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said this showed that people trusted the BJP and its development work.

He also said the government had completed 78 percent of its promises.

Congress leader Govind Singh Dotasra gave a different explanation for the results.

He said the BJP’s lead in votes was very small and that ward boundaries had been changed unfairly.

Congress also said government officials delayed some results and that the party performed well in several cities.

Both parties used the results to argue that voters supported their own message.
