High-Fat Cheese and Cream Linked to Lower Dementia Risk
A big study in Sweden followed many adults for about 25 years to see how eating high-fat cheese and cream affects their brain health.
They found that people who ate a lot of high-fat cheese and cream had a lower chance of getting dementia.
But remember, this doesn't mean eating lots of cheese and cream will definitely prevent dementia.
Other things like exercise, not smoking, and eating a balanced diet are also very important for keeping your brain healthy.
Scientists think there might be special nutrients in cheese and cream that help, but they need to do more research to be sure.
A long-term study in Sweden found that consuming high-fat cheese and cream may be associated with a lower risk of dementia.
Participants who ate around 50 grams of high-fat cheese daily had a 13% lower risk of all-cause dementia.
High-fat cream consumption was linked to a 16% lower risk of all-cause dementia.
The study did not find significant associations between low-fat dairy products and dementia risk.
Researchers caution that the study shows correlation, not causation, and other lifestyle factors are also important for brain health.
