Allahabad HC seeks DGP’s reply on 37-year-old SP threat case
A long time ago, in 1988, a police officer named BK Bhola was accused of threatening a judge.
The judge had ordered action against him, but nothing much happened.
Recently, the Allahabad High Court found out about this and asked the police chief to find out if BK Bhola is still alive, if he is still working, and what action was taken against him.
The court wants to make sure that someone who threatened a judge is held accountable.
They also mentioned that there were other officers involved, but they will deal with them later.
Allahabad High Court took cognizance of a 1988 case where a sessions court judge ordered action against then SP BK Bhola for threatening him.
The High Court directed the Uttar Pradesh DGP to submit an affidavit by December 9 on the action taken against BK Bhola.
The affidavit must include whether BK Bhola is still alive, his current status (in service or receiving pension), and his residential address.
The High Court noted that the judge's remarks about BK Bhola's behavior were serious and could not be overlooked.
The court also mentioned that there were other officers involved, but they will inquire into their conduct later.
