Iran Seeks June Ceasefire Revival, Offers Nuclear Concession Before Midterms

Iran says it wants to bring back a ceasefire understanding with the United States.

President Masoud Pezeshkian wants this to happen before American elections in November.

He says Iran is willing to give up uranium enriched to 60 percent if this follows international rules.

Iran says it still wants an agreement based on its rights and treaty responsibilities.

Pezeshkian also says Iran had an earlier agreement with President Donald Trump.

Reuters reports that negotiators may be discussing a step-by-step deal.

That deal could involve reopening the Strait of Hormuz in return for the United States lifting economic restrictions on Iran.

Pezeshkian says Iran did not close the strait during the attacks.
