Karimnagar Launches City Metro Express Bus Services for Residents
The city of Karimnagar in Telangana has started a new bus service called City Metro Express.
Three routes were opened: one to Vageshwari College, one to Chinthakunta, and one to Kothapalli Haveli.
The transport minister, Ponnam Prabhakar, opened the buses and rode one to show how they work.
He said the new buses will help people travel easier and that the city’s bus network will grow as more people move in.
In the future, the service will be extended to nearby towns like Prathima, Chalmeda, and Manakondur, and more buses may run all day if people need them.
The state also plans to give free rides to women on these buses through a program called the Mahalakshmi Scheme.
TGSRTC introduced City Metro Express bus services on three routes: Karimnagar–Vageshwari College, Karimnagar–Chinthakunta, and Karimnagar–Kothapalli Haveli.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated the services at Dr B.R. Ambedkar Bus Station and rode a new bus to Vageshwari College with local officials.
The launch aims to meet residents’ long‑pending demand and strengthen the city’s public transport network amid growing population.
Future plans include extending services to Prathima, Chalmeda and Manakondur, adding more buses and possibly round‑the‑clock operations.
The government is also expanding TGSRTC fleet, recruiting staff, and promoting the Mahalakshmi Scheme that offers free travel for women on RTC buses.
