Himachal Pradesh trials new road repair technologies
Himachal Pradesh is trying out two new ways to fix roads.
These methods are supposed to make roads last longer, about 10 years, and be stronger against bad weather.
The state has a lot of roads, around 35,000 km, and some of them get damaged a lot because of heavy rain and weak ground.
The new technologies are already used in other places and are expected to make roads safer and smoother.
A small test is happening on one road right now, and if it works well, they might use these methods on more roads.
Himachal Pradesh is trialing two new road repair technologies to improve durability and reduce maintenance costs.
The technologies, Cement Grouted Bituminous Macadam and Stabilised Base Layer, are expected to make roads last up to 10 years.
The trial is currently underway on the damaged sections of Shoghi-Mehli Road.
These technologies are already successfully used in other states and by the National Highways Authority of India.
The state has around 35,000 km of roads, with about 20% getting damaged repeatedly due to harsh weather conditions.
