Kolkata Delimitation: South Expansion Likely
Kolkata is getting ready to redraw its city map to make sure everyone is fairly represented in the upcoming elections.
The city currently has 144 wards, but they are planning to add more to make it 200.
This means some areas, especially in the south, might get bigger.
The city officials are working hard to finish this by July so they can hold the elections in November.
People and political parties will get a chance to give their opinions before the final map is decided.
Kolkata is undergoing delimitation to balance population representation in wards.
The number of wards is proposed to increase from 144 to 200.
South Kolkata is likely to see a significant expansion.
The draft delimitation map is expected to be published on 31 July.
