Cyberabad Plans to Turn Festival Flowers into Incense and Diyas
After people offer flowers to Lord Ganesha, the flowers are often thrown away after immersion ceremonies.
Cyberabad wants to give these flowers a second use.
It plans to place collection kiosks near immersion lakes.
IDL Lake would be the first location.
Workers would keep the flowers separate from other waste.
They would then sort and dry them.
The flowers could become incense sticks, dhoops and diyas.
The corporation is asking organisations and startups to help make the idea larger.
Cyberabad Municipal Corporation discussed recycling festival floral waste with Pakka Organics.
The plan would collect flowers separately at kiosks near immersion lakes.
IDL Lake is proposed as the initiative’s starting location.
Collected flowers would be segregated, dried and processed into incense sticks, dhoops and diyas.
The corporation is seeking NGOs, startups and specialist organisations to help expand the program.
