US weapons stockpiles depleted amid Iran war; Russia, China watch
The United States is fighting a war with Iran.
Fighting a war uses up a lot of weapons.
The US has used so many weapons that its storage places are getting empty.
The military had to take weapons from bases in Europe and Asia.
Some countries that are friends of the US are now waiting longer for weapons they were promised.
Generals are worried that the US might not be ready if another big conflict starts.
The top military general, Dan Caine, warned President Trump about this before the war began.
Russia and China are watching carefully to see how much strength the US has left.
President Trump says the US has plenty of firepower and nothing to worry about.
He is also upset that people told reporters about the low weapons supplies.
The prolonged US war with Iran has sharply reduced American weapons stockpiles, forcing the Pentagon to draw supplies from military positions in Europe and Asia.
Weapons shortages have delayed some deliveries to European and Asian allies and raised concerns about US readiness for another major conflict.
Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, warned President Trump about depleted inventories before the Iran campaign began.
More than 1,500 Patriot interceptors have reportedly been used during the Iran war, with the current US inventory estimated at fewer than 1,700.
The White House and Pentagon reject shortage reports, saying the US has 'more than enough firepower' for any operation the president orders.

State of US weapons stockpiles
Concerned officials and analysts
Senior US and Western officials say the Iran campaign has sharply depleted munitions, forcing the Pentagon to draw supplies from Europe and Asia and delaying allied deliveries, leaving the US less prepared for another major conflict.
Trump administration
The White House and Pentagon insist the US has 'more than enough firepower to carry out any operation the president orders' and 'everything required to strike at the time and place of the president's choosing.'
Cause of the shortages
Concerned officials and analysts
Officials link the depletion to the prolonged Iran war, which has consumed thousands of precision-guided missiles and large numbers of air-defense interceptors.
Trump administration
Trump has dismissed the concerns and attributed reduced inventories to the Biden administration rather than to the current campaign.
Disclosing stockpile concerns
Concerned officials and analysts
Reports about dwindling munitions have raised public and military concerns, and worries about stockpiles contributed to Trump's decision to abandon a major bombing campaign late last month.
Trump administration
Trump believes public discussion of weapons shortages signals weakness to adversaries and has ordered an investigation and possible criminal prosecution of officials who leaked sensitive information.
