Valve Announces New Steam Machine Console for 4K Gaming
Valve, the company behind PC gaming's Steam platform, is making a new game console called the Steam Machine.
This console is meant for your TV and can play games in super clear 4K quality.
It's designed to be small, like a small box, but powerful enough to compete with consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The Steam Machine uses new parts from AMD to play games really fast, promising to be over six times better than Valve's last handheld, the Steam Deck.
It runs on SteamOS, the same system the Steam Deck uses, and you can even install other software on it or use it like a regular computer.
Valve is also releasing a new controller with special thumbsticks to make gaming smoother and prevent issues.
This is Valve's big step to bring PC-style gaming directly into living rooms.
Valve has announced the Steam Machine, a compact console designed for 4K gaming to compete with PS5 and Xbox Series X.
The console features a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 CPU and RDNA 3 GPU, offering over six times the performance of the Steam Deck.
Valve claims the Steam Machine will deliver 4K gaming at 60fps with support for FSR upscaling, ray tracing, and HDR.
It runs SteamOS and can be used like a small PC, with customizable magnetic front panels and expandable storage.
A redesigned Steam Controller with magnetic thumbsticks and enhanced features will also be launched.
