Nepal Issues Travel Warning After Deadly Floods, Heavy Rain Forecast
Nepal expects very heavy rain in several parts of the country from September 25 to 27.
The Nepal Tourism Board warned visitors to be careful.
This warning comes after floods on August 26 killed many people and left thousands missing.
Some of the missing people were foreigners.
Rain could bring thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds and landslides.
Snow may also fall in higher mountain areas.
Tourists should check weather, road, flight and trekking updates before travelling.
They should avoid dangerous places and move to safety when officials or tour operators advise them to do so.
Nepal’s Tourism Board issued a safety advisory as heavy to extremely heavy rain is forecast from September 25 to 27.
The warning follows August 26 floods that killed 1,451 people and left 5,705 missing, including 636 foreigners, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
Extremely heavy rain is expected in parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Sudurpashchim provinces, with heavy rain possible in Karnali, Gandaki and Lumbini.
