Meghalaya to Constitute Sixth Pay Commission Soon

Meghalaya plans to set up a group called its Sixth Pay Commission.

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said the process has started.

The state expects to announce who will lead and join the group within a week or two.

The group will consider pay, allowances, benefits and service conditions for government workers and pensioners.

It has not yet made recommendations.

Other states are also taking steps on pay reviews.

Andhra Pradesh plans to appoint a pay revision commission.

West Bengal has already formed its seventh commission and named its chairperson.
