Mizoram to Begin Biometric Enrollment of Myanmar Refugees
The government of Mizoram is starting to collect the fingerprints and other information of over 32,000 people who came from Myanmar for safety.
This is so the government knows who they are.
The program will begin in July, and district officials are getting trained on how to do it.
Originally, the system was made for people who are in the country illegally, but the government changed it because the people from Myanmar are considered displaced persons, not illegal immigrants.
Champhai district has the most refugees.
