JIOS Aerogel Secures Hyundai Contract via New Model
JIOS Aerogel, a company that makes special materials called aerogels, has made a big deal with Hyundai and Kia.
They will supply parts called Thermal Blade® thermal runaway barriers for Hyundai and Kia's new electric cars.
JIOS uses a special business model called 'Hub & Spoke' where they make the main material in Korea and then let other companies in different places make the final product.
This helps them make more products without building lots of factories.
The deal starts in 2027 and will last for 12 years.
JIOS is happy because this shows their technology is good and they can make more money without spending too much.
They also have factories in Singapore and Korea, which helps car companies make cars closer to where they are needed.
JIOS Aerogel's Korean licensee secured a contract with Hyundai and Kia for Thermal Blade® thermal runaway barriers.
The contract is the first under JIOS's 'Hub & Spoke' business model, which licenses production to regional suppliers.
Mass production is scheduled to begin in June 2027 and will span a 12-year period.
JIOS anticipates significant order volumes as Hyundai expands its electric vehicle lineup.
The 'Hub & Spoke' model centralizes core aerogel powder production in Korea, with licensees handling high-volume manufacturing globally.
