Inter-school quiz highlights Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh heritage
A special quiz was held in Calcutta where students from different schools competed to answer questions about the city's and state's heritage.
This year, the quiz also focused on the histories and cultures of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
Teams had to answer tricky questions and even identify traditional items like a special cap from Himachal Pradesh and a long outfit from Kashmir.
The quiz is organized by the Calcutta Heritage Collective to help young people learn more about India's rich heritage.
La Martiniere for Boys won the quiz, with The Heritage School and Birla High School, Moira Street coming in second and third respectively.
The school's principal said they make an exception to host this event because it's a great learning experience for everyone involved.
The Calcutta Heritage Collective (CHC) Quiz, in its sixth year, focused on the heritage of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
20 teams from 14 schools participated, with students from Classes VIII and IX competing.
La Martiniere for Boys won the quiz, followed by The Heritage School and Birla High School, Moira Street.
The quiz included a live round where participants identified traditional items like a dejhoor, Kullu topi, and pheran.
The event aimed to raise awareness about India's built and cultural heritage among young students.
