Some very smart computer programs, called artificial intelligence or AI, can help people do their work.

They can help scientists look at lots of data or find books and papers to read.

But these programs are getting better and better very fast.

A scientist who leads a research center in India said rules for using AI may need to change every few months.

In the past, rules could stay the same for many years.

Now, leaders must keep making new rules to keep up with new AI abilities.

She said the important thing is not whether people use AI, but how they use it the right way.

When people use AI in their work, she said they should tell others which tool they used.

She also said AI can help catch people who copy other people's work, but cheaters find new tricks too.

That is why students, researchers, and editors should all learn to use AI honestly.
