Delhi Crime Branch arrests absconding forgery accused after 12 years
A man named Manoharan Kandhasamy ran away from the police for more than 12 years.
He was wanted because police said he made fake letterheads that looked like they came from important government offices.
Long ago, he was arrested in Delhi, but a court let him go on bail.
After that, he never came back to court, so he became a 'proclaimed offender.'
In 2014, a court officially said he was a wanted person, and police offered Rs 50,000 to anyone who helped catch him.
Police tracked him down using phone numbers and watched him for over a month.
They finally found him in a town called Tiruchengode in Tamil Nadu, where he ran a poultry farm with his family.
When police caught him, he said he ran away because he was scared of going to jail.
Now the police have arrested him after all these years.
Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested Manoharan Kandhasamy, a proclaimed offender with a Rs 50,000 reward on his head, after more than 12 years of evading arrest.
Kandhasamy was wanted in a sensitive forgery case involving fake letterheads of prominent political offices and government authorities.
The Court of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate at Patiala House Courts, New Delhi, declared him a Proclaimed Offender in 2014.
He was arrested on August 4 in Tiruchengode, Namakkal district, Tamil Nadu, where he was operating a poultry business.
Kandhasamy admitted he intentionally absconded after getting bail out of fear of conviction and relocated with his family to Tamil Nadu.
The case originated from FIR No. 33/2008 under IPC Sections 465 and 468, linked to an earlier theft case registered at Mandir Marg Police Station, New Delhi.
