Heritage enthusiasts explore hidden temples in Odisha
A group of heritage enthusiasts went on a walk to explore old temples in a part of Odisha called Jagatsinghpur.
They visited several temples, including one called Kuttamchandi Temple, which is very old and has a special statue of a goddess.
The temples are by a river called the Devi River, and the group saw many ancient statues and learned about the history of these places.
They hope that more people will visit these temples and learn about their importance.
The 11th edition of Jagatsinghpur Heritage Walks (JHW) explored lesser-known heritage sites in the Nuagaon Block of Jagatsinghpur district, Odisha.
Participants visited the Kuttamchandi Temple, believed to be from the 16th or 17th Century, and saw an ancient idol of the goddess Mahishasuramardini Durga.
The group also visited the Tumbeswar Mahadev Temple, Ishaneswar Temple, and Nrushinga Temple, all located on the banks of the Devi River.
At the Ishaneswar Temple, the group discovered a neglected 12th-century Kartikeswar idol, highlighting the role of rivers in temple construction in Odisha.
The JHW aims to document and popularise these hidden architectural treasures to boost heritage tourism and community pride beyond the Maa Sarala Temple.
