ED Searches Seven Locations in West Bengal Municipality Recruitment Scam
Imagine a big test to get jobs in towns and cities across West Bengal.
Some people are accused of taking money to help people who didn't study well get these jobs.
This is called a recruitment scam.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is like a financial police, is investigating this scam.
They recently searched several places where people involved in the scam worked or lived.
During these searches, they found important papers, computer files, and a lot of money.
They believe that money from the scam was being hidden by pretending to pay for fake services.
The ED started this investigation after another agency, the CBI, filed a report.
This scam might be connected to other past scams involving jobs.
ED conducted search operations at seven locations in and around Kolkata related to the Municipality Recruitment Scam.
Incriminating documents, digital devices, and approximately Rs 3 crore in cash were seized.
The investigation uncovered a modus operandi involving money laundering through companies for bogus services.
ED previously searched 13 premises on 10.10.2025, seizing Rs 45 lakh in cash from an MLA's office.
The scam involves illegal appointments in various municipalities, including for roles like clerks, peons, and drivers, with Ayan Sil allegedly manipulating OMR sheets.
