Karnataka SIR Flags Nilekani, Kamaths and Other Voters
Karnataka is checking its voter list against an older list from 2002.
Some people’s names could not be matched to the old list, while others had differences in names or family details.
Nandan Nilekani and his family were placed in the “Unmapped with last SIR” category.
The Kamath brothers and their mother were flagged because their parents’ names did not match.
Actor Shivarajkumar was also flagged, but officials checked his records at home.
CNR Rao had a name difference, but officials recommended keeping his name on the final list without giving him a notice.
Harekala Hajabba’s name issue was reportedly resolved after officials obtained documents.
Voters can file objections and provide documents before the final list is published on October 27.
Nandan Nilekani, Rohini Nilekani, Janhvi Nilekani and Nihar Nilekani were classified as “Unmapped with last SIR” because their records could not be linked to the 2002 electoral rolls.
Nikhil Kamath, Nithin Kamath and their mother Revathi Kamath were flagged over mismatches in parents’ names in the Bengaluru South constituency.
Shivarajkumar was classified as unmapped and verified at home, while CNR Rao’s name variation led officials to recommend retaining him without issuing a notice.
Harekala Hajabba was flagged over a name discrepancy, and officials said his case was resolved after documents were collected.
By September 4, notices had been generated for 43.81 lakh voters; claims and objections run until September 23, hearings until October 22, and the final roll is due October 27.

Voter Concerns
Purpose of the revision
Election Verification Process
Election officials say they are checking current voter entries against older rolls and reviewing anomalies before publishing the final list. The Supreme Court upheld the legality of the revision, according to the reports.
Voter Concerns
Concerns have been raised that genuine voters could be excluded and that the exercise could affect electoral outcomes.
Meaning of a discrepancy listing
Election Verification Process
Being listed in the discrepancy exercise does not automatically mean removal. The Nilekani family remains on the draft roll, CNR Rao was recommended for retention without a notice, and Hajabba’s issue was reportedly resolved.
Voter Concerns
Voters with unmapped records or mismatches may need to submit documents or respond during the verification process to protect their inclusion in the final roll.
Access to verification
Election Verification Process
Officials say prominent, elderly and disabled voters can be verified at home instead of attending hearing centres; this arrangement was used for Shivarajkumar.
