Tata Expands BaaS Option Across Its Full EV Range
Tata Motors sells six electric car models in India.
It now offers a payment choice called Battery-as-a-Service, or BaaS, for all six models.
Under BaaS, the battery is paid for separately from the car.
This makes the amount paid at the start lower.
Buyers then pay a battery usage charge or a separate battery loan payment.
The charge depends on the battery size, down payment and loan period.
These charges do not include electricity, maintenance or repairs.
Buyers can still purchase the car with the battery included in the regular price.
Tata Motors has extended its Battery-as-a-Service option to the Nexon, Curvv, Sierra and Harrier EVs.
BaaS is now available across Tata’s six-model electric vehicle range in India, including the Tiago EV and Punch EV.
The option separates battery financing from the vehicle purchase, lowering the upfront vehicle price.
BaaS vehicle prices range from Rs 4.69 lakh for the Tiago EV to Rs 14.49 lakh for the Harrier EV.
Battery usage charges range from Rs 2.6 per kilometre to Rs 5.9 per kilometre, depending on the model.

Conventional Ownership
Buyers can purchase the vehicle with the battery included in its price and avoid a separate battery payment structure.
Ownership trade-off
Lower Upfront Cost
Supporters may prefer BaaS because it lowers the initial financial barrier to buying an electric vehicle.
