Digital Mutual Fund Transfers Coming in India in May 2025
Starting May 2025, it's becoming much easier to move your mutual fund investments around in India.
Right now, transferring them after someone's death can be tricky.
Soon, if your funds are in a Statement of Account (SoA) format, you'll be able to move them with just a few clicks, like transferring money online.
You can do this through MF Central or CAMS/KFintech.
Be careful because transferring units is different from giving them as a gift; there are different tax rules.
Also, you'll be able to add joint holders online, and spouses will have an easier time inheriting mutual fund units.
