Bengaluru contractor alleges jailed gangster threatened him over garbage contract
A man in Bengaluru named Imran Anjum collects garbage for a part of the city.
He says a dangerous criminal in jail threatened him and his family.
The criminal is in prison but can still make phone calls.
He wanted Anjum to pay money every month.
When Anjum said no, the criminal wanted Anjum to give away his garbage job.
Anjum said no again.
Then the criminal's friends told him bad things would happen.
Anjum was scared and went to the police.
The police are now looking into the case.
This shows that some criminals try to control garbage collection in the city.
Bengaluru garbage contractor Imran Anjum, 36, filed a police complaint on August 10 against jailed gangster Grace Walter Joseph.
Joseph, a Wilson Garden Naga gang member held at Hindalga prison in Belagavi for a 2023 murder, allegedly demanded Anjum surrender his Padmanabhanagar garbage contract.
A June 2 call from a number linked to Joseph's Instagram demanded Rs 30,000 per month to Bengaluru associate Prajwal and threatened Anjum with death.
When Anjum refused, associates summoned him to a Banashankari office and called Joseph in prison, who allegedly threatened an attack on Anjum's home.
The Banashankari police registered an FIR under criminal intimidation provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on a local court's direction, and Anjum sought police protection.
