India's Unemployment Rate Holds Steady at 5.2% in October
Imagine India's job market is like a big classroom.
In October, the number of students looking for jobs stayed almost the same as the month before, staying at 5.2 out of every 100 students.
This happened because fewer students in the countryside were looking for jobs, but a little bit more students in the cities were.
Also, fewer girl students were looking for jobs, mostly in the countryside.
More people, especially in villages, are joining the 'student helpers' group, meaning they are working or looking for work.
The number of students who are actually working also went up a bit, especially in the villages.
So, even though the overall number of students looking for jobs stayed steady, the situation is a bit different between the countryside and the cities.
India's overall unemployment rate remained steady at 5.2% in October, unchanged from September.
Rural unemployment decreased from 4.6% to 4.4% in October, while urban unemployment rose from 6.8% to 7%.
Unemployment among females aged 15 and above saw a slight decline to 5.4% in October.
The Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) increased to 55.4% in October, driven by rural participation.
The Worker Population Ratio (WPR) rose to 52.5% in October, with a notable increase in the female workforce in rural areas.

Labor Force and Worker Ratios
Rural Job Market Strength
The overall Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) and Worker Population Ratio (WPR) are on a steady rise, particularly driven by increased participation from rural areas.
Urban Job Market Challenges
While rural areas show increased participation, the rise in urban unemployment suggests that job creation in cities may not be keeping pace with the influx of job seekers.
