Supreme Court Quashes NSA Detention, Fines Uttar Pradesh ₹10 Lakh

The Supreme Court reviewed the detention of a man named Afroz.

He had been held under the National Security Act, or NSA.

The court said the officials did not properly examine all the important information.

Because of this, the court found that his detention was unlawful.

The court canceled the detention order.

It also said that a confession by itself was not enough reason to hold someone preventively.

The Uttar Pradesh government was ordered to pay a fine of ₹10 lakh.

The report does not provide the date of the ruling.
