Bandhan Bank Lowers Minimum Balance Requirement
Bandhan Bank is making it easier for people to keep their savings accounts by lowering the minimum amount of money they need to have in their accounts.
Starting from February 1, 2026, customers will only need to have ₹2,000 on average in their accounts each month, instead of ₹5,000.
This change means fewer people will have to pay fees for not having enough money in their accounts.
The bank also offers different interest rates depending on how much money is in the account, with higher amounts earning more interest.
For example, if you have up to ₹1 lakh, you earn 2.70% interest per year, but if you have more than ₹1,000 crore, you earn 6.15% per year.
This change is designed to make banking more affordable and convenient for millions of customers across the country, especially those in semi-urban and rural areas.
Bandhan Bank will reduce the Monthly Average Balance (MAB) requirement for its Standard Savings Account from ₹5,000 to ₹2,000, effective February 1, 2026.
The revision aims to lower the minimum balance customers need to maintain to avoid non-maintenance charges.
Monthly Average Balance is calculated by averaging the end-of-day balances across all days in the month.
Bandhan Bank offers a tiered interest rate structure on savings deposits, with higher balances earning higher interest rates.
Interest rates range from 2.70% per annum for balances up to ₹1 lakh to 6.85% per annum for balances between ₹500 crore and ₹750 crore.
