Uttarakhand Cabinet Passes Minority Education Bill
Uttarakhand is changing its rules about schools for minority groups.
Right now, only Muslim schools have special status, but the new law will include Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Christians, and Parsis.
This new law will be discussed by the government soon.
It will set up a group to make sure all these schools are good.
This also means that the old rules for Muslim schools will be gone in a few years.
Some people are upset, like Harish Rawat, who thinks the government is being unfair.
But others, like Mufti Shamoon Qazmi, are happy because they think it will help all communities get a good education.
Uttarakhand Cabinet approved the Minority Education Bill-2025, extending minority status benefits.
The bill includes institutions of Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Christians, and Parsis.
It will be introduced in the Assembly's monsoon session.
The Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Board Act, 2016, will be repealed on July 1, 2026.
Harish Rawat criticized the bill, while Mufti Shamoon Qazmi welcomed it.
