EU Lawmakers Vote to Weaken Green and Human Rights Rules for Businesses

Imagine the European Union had a rule that made big companies responsible for making sure their factories and suppliers around the world weren't hurting people or the planet.

This rule was supposed to help stop things like pollution and unfair work.

But some lawmakers, especially those who want to help businesses more, voted to make this rule less strict.

They decided it will only apply to the very biggest companies, and they changed some of the rules about how companies are held responsible if something goes wrong.

Some people are happy because they think this will help businesses that are having a hard time.

Others are sad because they think it means the EU is not caring as much about the environment and people's rights.

It's a trade-off between helping businesses and protecting the planet and workers.
