Telangana Targets Huts‑Free State with 700,000 Indiramma Houses
The Telangana government wants to give every poor family a solid house instead of a thatched hut.
They plan to build 700,000 houses, with 100,000 in Hyderabad.
The state also filled many jobs and will give women interest‑free loans.
They are building roads and water facilities in villages.
The minister says Telangana could be huts‑free in two years.
Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the Indiramma scheme will give every eligible family a pucca house, ending thatched huts.
The state has sanctioned 700,000 Indiramma houses, including 100,000 for Hyderabad alone.
The Congress government has filled 72,000 vacant posts in 2.5 years and plans to add 16,000 more, while offering ₹70 billion interest‑free loans to women’s self‑help groups.
Infrastructure projects such as gravel roads, culverts, and drinking water facilities are being prioritized in rural areas.
Ponguleti said Telangana could become a huts‑free state within the next two years.
