Leh Violence Inquiry Extended by 10 Days
There was a big fight in Leh, Ladakh, on September 24.
Some people were protesting and wanted Ladakh to become a state and have special protections under the Constitution.
The police and protesters clashed, and four people died while 90 were hurt.
A group of judges is looking into what happened.
They were supposed to finish collecting statements by November 28, but a local group asked for more time.
The head judge, Justice Chauhan, said yes, and now they have until December 8 to gather more information.
The Judicial Inquiry Commission extended its deadline for recording statements and submitting evidence by ten days.
The extension was granted after the Leh Apex Body requested more time for people to testify.
The panel, headed by former Supreme Court judge B. S. Chauhan, was constituted to investigate the September 24 violence in Leh.
The violence resulted in four civilian deaths, including a Kargil war veteran, and 90 injuries.
The original deadline was November 28, and the new deadline is December 8.
