Khurda Road-Puri Rail Corridor Sees Progress in Signaling Upgrades
The East Coast Railway is upgrading the Khurda Road–Puri rail section with a new signaling system called Double Distant Signaling (DDS).
This system helps trains go faster and safer by giving drivers more information about the tracks ahead.
It will allow trains to travel up to 130 kmph, making trips quicker and smoother.
The project includes upgrades at eight stations, ten level crossings, and one block hut.
So far, four stations and three level crossings have been completed.
Once finished, passengers will enjoy faster, safer, and more comfortable train rides, especially during busy times like festivals.
East Coast Railway is implementing Double Distant Signaling (DDS) on the Khurda Road–Puri section to enhance safety and efficiency.
The project aims to increase train speeds up to 130 kmph, reducing travel time and improving punctuality.
Upgrades include Electronic Interlocking at six stations, Route Relay Interlocking at Khurda Road, and Panel Interlocking at Motari.
Commissioning is already complete at four stations and three level crossings, with the entire project targeted for completion by January 2026.
The DDS system will provide smoother journeys, better safety, and increased line capacity, benefiting passengers and enabling more train services.
