AI Poses Greatest Cyber Risk Today
Akshay Joshi from the World Economic Forum said that AI is the biggest cybersecurity risk right now.
He explained that AI can help both hackers and defenders, but many organizations are still catching up.
Joshi mentioned that 87% of people think AI is the biggest risk, and only 64% of organizations test AI tools for security before using them.
He also talked about how geopolitics makes cybersecurity more complicated and that India is about 50% confident in its preparedness.
Joshi emphasized that cybersecurity affects everyone, not just experts.
Meanwhile, IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva warned that AI will significantly impact the job market, affecting 60% of jobs in advanced economies and 40% globally.
She noted that young people and the middle class will be the most affected.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, however, offered a different perspective, stating that AI will create high-paying jobs in skilled trades like plumbing, electrical work, and construction.
He highlighted the massive infrastructure buildout driven by AI, which requires a large number of trade workers.
AI is identified as the greatest cyber risk today due to its rapid adoption and ability to automate and scale attacks.
Only 64% of organizations test AI tools for security before deploying them, up from 37% last year.
87% of respondents believe AI-enabled vulnerabilities represent the greatest cyber risk today.
AI can assist in cyber defense, such as anomaly detection and identifying insider threats, but there is a global shortage of 5 million cybersecurity professionals.
Geopolitics is deeply intertwined with cybersecurity, affecting critical infrastructure and private organizations.
