IndiGo Promoters Top Entrepreneurs List Amid Flight Chaos
IndiGo, India's biggest airline, is in the news for two big things.
First, its bosses are now among the top 10 richest self-made entrepreneurs in India.
This is because IndiGo is very successful, with a big share of the market and plans to use eco-friendly fuels.
Second, IndiGo has had to cancel many flights recently because of rules about how long pilots can work and bad weather.
Meanwhile, Air India is still recovering from a very bad plane crash in June.
Despite all this, IndiGo carried more international passengers than Air India in the last few months.
The Hurun list also shows that many successful companies are based in Bengaluru.
IndiGo promoters Rahul Bhatia and Rakesh Gangwal ranked 3rd on Hurun's top self-made entrepreneurs list with a valuation of Rs 2.2 lakh crore.
IndiGo cancelled thousands of flights in December due to rostering issues and new pilot duty time rules.
IndiGo carried 41.36 lakh international passengers in Q3 2025, surpassing Air India Group's 40.97 lakh passengers.
Air India's international passenger volume declined post-AI171 crash, allowing IndiGo to expand its market presence.
The Hurun list shows a 15% increase in cumulative value of companies to Rs 42 lakh crore, with 128 billion-dollar companies.
