HC Orders Arrest of Bulk Carrier
The Gujarat High Court has ordered the arrest of a ship called MV Nikator at Kandla Port.
This is because a pharmaceutical company from Vadodara says the ship didn't deliver all the cargo it was supposed to.
The company, Nandesari Drugs and Pharmaceuticals, bought a chemical called Bright Yellow Crude Sulphate, but when the ship arrived, there was 407.3 metric tonnes missing.
The court has asked the ship's owners to pay Rs 2.89 crore to avoid the ship being arrested.
The court will hear more about this on February 6.
Gujarat High Court ordered the arrest of bulk carrier vessel MV Nikator at Kandla Port.
The order follows a maritime dispute involving short delivery of 407.3 metric tonnes of Bright Yellow Crude Sulphate to a Vadodara-based pharmaceutical company.
The court imposed a total cost of Rs 2.89 crore on the defendants to prevent the execution of the arrest warrant.
The plaintiff, Nandesari Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd, filed an Admiralty Suit seeking a maritime claim under the Admiralty Act, 2017.
The court directed the Registry to send the order to the Port and Customs authorities at Kandla Port and issued a notice to the defendants, returnable on February 6.
