India's Foodgrain Production Hits Record High, MSP Raised
India's farmers are having a great year!
They produced a lot of food, reaching an all-time high.
The government is helping by giving money to farmers and setting prices for crops.
They increased the prices of some crops, like rice, and are encouraging farmers to grow different kinds of crops, such as pulses and oilseeds.
This helps the farmers and also makes sure there's enough food for everyone.
India's foodgrain production reached a record 354 million tonnes in 2024-25, a 6.6% increase.
Wheat production is estimated at 117 MT, paddy at 149 MT, and maize at 42 MT.
The Centre increased the MSP for paddy by 3% to Rs 2,369 per quintal.
MSP for pulses, oilseeds, and coarse grains were raised by 6%, 9%, and nearly 14% respectively.
The government aims to promote crop diversification, focusing on climate-resilient crops.
