Forest Chief Orders Forensic Probe Into Safari Video Near Panna Tigress, Cubs
The head of the forest department in Madhya Pradesh has asked for a special check of a video.
This video shows a car with tourists near a tigress and her babies in a protected area.
Some people were punished based on this video, but the head says they should have checked it properly first.
He wants a report on what happened and who did what within seven days.
A wildlife lover complained that the punishment was not fair because the video is old and the animals just passed by the car.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests V N Ambade ordered a forensic probe into a video showing a safari vehicle near a tigress and her cubs in Panna Tiger Reserve.
The video is two years old and was used to punish 10 guides and safari vehicle drivers for allegedly violating park norms.
Ambade directed a forensic examination of the video and sought a report on action taken against officials involved within seven days.
Panna Tiger Reserve officials had fined the vehicle owners and guides Rs 2000 each and debarred them from entering the park for one month.
Wildlife activist Ajay Dubey complained that action was taken without a fair probe, alleging the video was old and the animals merely grazed past the vehicle.
