Iran War and Fuel Costs Drive Tamil Nadu Price Hike

People in Tamil Nadu said everyday foods had become much more expensive.

The food minister blamed some of the increase on the Iran war and higher petrol and diesel prices.

He said the government checks the prices of 41 commodities every day.

The government also said it was trying to keep these goods available in shops.

Udhayanidhi Stalin said rice, pulses, oil and sugar had become much costlier in three months.

He asked for programs to help families manage the higher prices.

He also wanted better-quality rice and sugar in ration shops.

Other lawmakers said the government should buy goods from places where they cost less.
