GPS Spoofing Disrupts Indian Airports
Some airports in India, including Delhi, are having problems with their GPS systems.
This is because someone is sending fake GPS signals, which can confuse the navigation systems of airplanes.
The government has been told about these problems and is using old-fashioned ground-based systems to keep flights safe.
This issue is happening in several big cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai.
The government is working to make sure that flights can still operate safely even when the GPS signals are not working properly.
Some people say that many flights were delayed, but the government says that no flights were actually disrupted.
GPS spoofing and GNSS interference reported at multiple Indian airports, including Delhi.
Government confirmed the issue in parliament on December 1, 2023, with reports since November 2023.
Affected airports also include Kolkata, Amritsar, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
Government maintains Minimum Operating Network (MON) for safe air operations using ground-based systems.
DGCA issued directives for real-time reporting and cybersecurity measures to address the issue.
