Noida DM Challenges Allahabad HC Compensation Order in Supreme Court

Noida DM Challenges Allahabad HC Compensation Order in Supreme Court

Aakriti Chaudhary was arrested after a workers’ protest in Noida.

The Uttar Pradesh Police later used the National Security Act to detain her.

The Allahabad High Court said her detention was unlawful.

It said the authorities had not shown enough evidence and had not properly considered the case.

The court also said her constitutional rights had been violated.

It ordered Rs 5 lakh to be paid to Chaudhary.

The money was to come from the salary of District Magistrate Medha Roopam and other officials found responsible.

Roopam has now asked the Supreme Court to review that order.
