Saraighat Bridge Completes Rs 7-Crore Rehabilitation for Safer Travel

The Saraighat Bridge is an important bridge over the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati.

It helps people and goods travel between different parts of Assam and the Northeast.

The bridge was built in 1962 and had developed damage after more than six decades of use.

Northeast Frontier Railway carried out major repair work costing about Rs 7 crore.

Workers repaired eight expansion joints and fixed damaged concrete on the road deck.

They also strengthened steel parts underneath the bridge.

The work started on July 13 and was completed on Tuesday.

These repairs are intended to make the bridge safer and more reliable for many years.
